The recipe was born out of desire to use the ripe avocados and bananas sitting in my kitchen basket. Avocados and bananas go very well together. Even my picky eater son loved the shake. He loves both avocados and bananas but the idea of putting them together in a shake or smoothie sounded strange to him!!”But just try it” I urged. A few sips and he ended up asking for more. It makes a great drink after a workout or run. It is a great source for protein and good fats. It is packed with healthy nourishing ingredients, and no refined sugar is involved.
Ingredients
4cupswhole or skimmed milkor almond milk for a vegan option
2medium-sized avocadospeeled and pitted
4ripe bananaspeeled
5tablespoonshoneyor to taste preferance, or maple syrup for a vegan option
Zest of 1 lemon
A small handful of ice
Instructions
In a blender combine the avocados, bananas, honey, milk/ almond milk, lemon zest and ice. Blend until completely smooth.
For a thinner shake, add a bit more milk. Serve chilled. Can be topped with some pine nuts.
