Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-0-4\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">To the same pot, stir in the shrimp and sautee for 1 minutes, until their flesh turns from translucent to opaque. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-0-5\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Add the onions to the pot and stir to a slightly brown color.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-0-6\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Add the garlic, tomatoes, salt, cumin powder, crushed loomi and chili powder. Cook for 5 minutes until the tomatoes are cooked and its moist content has almost evaporated, stir and watch closely to avoid it getting burned.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-0-7\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Add the water and bring to a boil; stir in the basmati rice and the shrimp bouillon cubes, if used.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-0-8\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes then add the saut\u00e9ed shrimp on top of the rice. Cover the pan and simmer for another 5 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.<\/div><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-group\"><h4 class=\"wprm-recipe-group-name wprm-recipe-instruction-group-name wprm-block-text-bold\"><strong>Meanwhile prepare the dakkous ( the red garlicky sauce)<\/strong>:<\/h4><ul class=\"wprm-advanced-list wprm-advanced-list-reset wprm-advanced-list-7168 wprm-recipe-instructions\"><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-1-0\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Grate the tomatoes, using the coarse side of a box grate.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-1-1\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Place oil in a skillet over medium heat and saut\u00e9 the onion until tender.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-1-2\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Stir in the crushed garlic, grated tomatoes, salt and chili powder. Simmer for 2 minute. Serve the sauce with the shrimp kabsa.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-1-3\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">It\u2019s also a great dish to double up and have as convenient leftovers the next day.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-9617-step-1-4\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">The dried lime (loumi) gives the dish a unique, deep flavor.
