Is the date, nuts and tahini bars good for entertaing? Dates, nuts and tahini are practically made for each other\u2014dates are sweet and tahini has an agreeable nutty flavor, mix them together in a layered fashion with some pistachios, cashews, almonds and walnuts, and you get a balanced dessert that can be eaten casually any time of day, and the good think is that it can be made ahead of time, but I would not serve it when entertaining, simple because the bars may crumble and may not look photogenic, but they are good enough to keep them in my fridge whenever the sugar crave hits, I cut a piece and enjoy the combo, and I know I am eating something healthy and delectable. dates 4 Looks fancy, but so easy This is one of those sweets that doesn\u2019t need a recipe, just layer upon layer of decadence, very simple and easy to make. All you do is layer your medjool dates over a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, drench them in tahini, and toss with your toasted nuts; repeat the process 1 more time, resulting in 2 layered date, tahini and nuts. dates 2 Toast the nuts! Toasting your nuts before adding to the dates brings out their natural oils and turns them crispy and fragrant. I toasted the nuts separately in a skillet over medium high heat for 2 to 3 minutes, stiring constantly to prevent scorching. dates 1 Use your favorite nuts, this is not a demanding dessert. It\u2019s made from what\u2019s on hand. I used pistachios, walnuts, cashews and almonds. Medjool dates: Use medjool dates, they have a caramel-like flavor, chewy and have a high moisture content. Tahini: Use a good brand, Lebanese tahini brands are my favorite, no bias, from personal experience, and make sure to stir the jar before using, tahini naturally separates, leaving a layer of oil floating at the top and a thick, dense paste at the bottom, so mixing disperse these oils to achieve a pourable tahini of one texture. Ingredients 1x 2x 3x 1 kg\/ 2 lb 4 oz Medjool dates 1\/2 cup walnuts 1\/2 cup almonds 1\/2 cup cashew nuts 1\/2 cup raw shelled pistachios 1 cup tahini 3 tablespoons unsweetened desiccated coconut Instructions Pull open the dates lengthwise and remove the pits. Toast the nuts: Heat a dry skillet over medium high heet, add the nuts each separately in a single layer and stir constantly for 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant and considerably toasted. Remove from skillet and leave tocool down completely. dates 2 Prepare a pan and all you do is layer your medjool dates over a sheet pan, create an open butterfly shape with the dates and lay them in the pan so they lie adjacent to one another in a single layer, press them using your hands then drench them in tahini, and toss with a layer of toasted nuts followed by a sprinkle of desiccated coconut; repeat the process in 1 more time, resulting in 2 layered dessert. Exert pressure on the surface of the date pan. Refrigerate overnight covered with clingfilm. Please don't cut directly, otherwise it will crumble. Refrigerate overnight then cut the desired slices and keep the rest refrigerated covered with clingfilm. This is a rich and filling dessert, so please don't be tempted to cut overly generous servings; it would be a crime to see it left on the plate.
